A main event in the first quarter of the Tongaat Branch year was bidding farewell to Tongaat’s longtime Branch Manager, Marion Takis, and the Chairperson of the Board, Mark Tucker, who is the donor representative for Tongaat Hulett and is the longest serving chairperson and management committee member with over 30 years’ service. The joint retirement ceremony was celebrated by family, friends, committee members, alumni, and colleagues.
In her address to the guests, Anna Maria Mkhize, Tongaat Branch Manager, commended Mark’s leadership, vision and dedication as a driving force behind PROTEC Tongaat’s success and growth. “Under his guidance, we have witnessed remarkable achievements and milestones that have strengthened the foundation of our organisation and inspired everyone to reach new heights. Tongaat Branch will be forever grateful to you.”
Mark will remain as a PROTEC Tongaat management committee member.
About Marion Takis, Anna-Maria said she was always willing to lend a hand and share her wealth of knowledge. “Her contribution elevated the quality of our work and has left an indelible mark on our collective experience.”
The North Coast Courier carried a lovely article of the retirement celebration on 2 March.
PROTEC Connect January 2024 was a special tribute edition to Marion Takis in honour of her dedicated years of enthusiastic service to the PROTEC Tongaat Branch.
