Mpumezo’s PROTEC journey

Having served PROTEC for the past three years, it is with a heavy heart that I write. When I joined PROTEC in 2021, the branch was experiencing challenges, on top of which, the July 2021 unrest in the KZN did not leave it unscathed. Through the hard lockdowns and as the branch was being renovated, our learners accessed learning through the hybrid model on their tablets. But through all the ups and downs, we were well-positioned to thrive.

One of the biggest achievements of the team as we embark on our 2024 strategy is the development of Incentives & ProArt programmes. We have brought on new funding partners who are supporting the programmes to consistently get 100% matric pass rate, bachelor pass rate, and maximum distinctions, while also instilling an entrepreneurial mind-set in our learners.

To PROTEC management, thank you for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity and responsibility to take the INK branch forward. I felt privileged to work with such an active and engaged team.  Thank you for being the accountability lens. Thank you for your commitment to our mission, ‘to enable disadvantaged youth to pull themselves and each other out of poverty and into tertiary education or employment’
