PROTEC AngloGold Ashanti Diepsloot Project

AngloGold Ashanti is embarking on a new project with PROTEC, following the remarkable success of the three-year programme in Diepsloot that started in 2019 and concluded in 2021 with the matric class of 39 students achieving a 100% pass and a 95% bachelor pass. Balan Moodley, CEO, explains this remarkable achievement. “At the start in 2019, we ran a test to identify learners who met our selection criteria. Only two passed, which was concerning. But our operations team embraced the challenge and went the extra mile to support the learners.

Following deliberations, AngloGold Ashanti will once more be funding a PROTEC project in Diepsloot, which will no doubt deliver more excellence, enabling successful STEM careers.

GE Next Engineers

The five-year partnership continues into the second year, following an exciting first year. See the report on the start of the 2023 activities above.

Telkom

Telkom’s two projects – in Garankuwa, Gauteng, and Gqeberha, Eastern Cape – came to an end in 2022 with three matriculants making it onto the PROTEC top 10 matriculants list. All close-out procedures were completed.
