Programme for Technological Careers (PROTEC) is a national non-profit organisation implementing an effective, holistic model of education and career enrichment to help previously disadvantaged school learners with real aptitude, to successfully embark on careers in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

PROTEC seeks to appoint a Fundraising and Marketing Administrator, based in Randburg Gauteng.

This is a six-month contract position for a flexible 24 hours per week, starting July 2022.

The Social Media Administrator will report to the Fundraising and Business Development Manager and will be responsible for fundraising and marketing administration and other administrative assistance for PROTEC.  Specific duties and responsibilities include:


  • Collation, preparation and loading of professional posts for all PROTEC’s social media sites.
  • Prepare and present media reports on interactions across PROTEC.
  • Assist with webpage loading when required – experience in WordPress will be advantageous.
  • Monitor and respond to all social media interactions.
  • Establish, implement, educate staff and project managers about submissions of relevant and in depth programme information that will be interesting to PROTEC’s audience.
  • Develop a calendar for timing of all posts for social media.
  • Liaise with programme staff and branch managers to advise on required information and imagery.
  • Submit monthly social media progress reports to the Manco.
  • Assist in various other departments where necessary and when required.


  • Strong Social Media skills in Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram
  • Five years’ experience of social media administration in the NGO sector. Fundraising experience will be advantageous.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple social media accounts successfully.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel in particular, internet, e-mail and other tools of electronic communication and research.
  • Demonstrated competence in interacting and negotiating at a senior level.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of honesty and professionalism when dealing with staff, funders, project participants, and partner organisations.
  • Minimum education level of Matric, with some media studies.
  • Proficient in English language.
